Michel Lavrauw

I am a professor in Mathematics ("redni profesor") at the University of Primorska in Koper (Slovenia), member of the Department of Mathematics, and the Andrej Marušič Institute (UP IAM). My research areas are Algebra, Geometry, and Combinatorics.

Statement about research assessment

Academic background

I studied Mathematics at Ghent University (Belgium), and obtained my Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands) in 2001 under the supervision of Aart Blokhuis and Andries Brouwer. I worked as a postdoc at the University of Naples (Marie Curie Fellowship), at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona (EU-project COMBSTRU), Eindhoven University of Technology (Veni grant (NWO)), Ghent University (FWO fellowship), and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). In 2012, I obtained my Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale for full professor (settore 01/A1, Algebra/Geomety) from the Italian Ministero dell'Istruzione dell'Università e della Ricerca, and was a faculty member at the University of Padua between 2011 and 2018, and at Sabancı University between 2017 and 2023. In 2023 I joined the University of Primorska as a full professor in the Department of Mathematics of FAMNIT.
